SOUTH END HALFWAY HOUSE ENDS 37-YEAR STAY

Brooke House, Community Resources for Justice’s long-running halfway house program relocates today from 79 Chandler Street in Boston’s South End to 107 Park Drive in the Fenway. Approximately 40 residents and eleven employees staffing the Brooke House program will make the move today, with 16 Operations and Fiscal staff following them to Park Drive in January.

Over the past 37 years, Brooke House established itself as a good neighbor in the Ellis Neighborhood, in part through the community service performed by program residents and an annual Holiday Party for children attending Ellis Memorial Day Care Center down the street.

Until last year the Massachusetts Department of Correction had operated a Pre-Release Center at the Park Drive facility, and had a similar tradition of community service to the Fenway neighborhood, one which CRJ pledges to continue.

Brooke House operates under a contract with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. With the same capacity and level of security as under the Department of Correction’s program, Brooke at Park Drive will house up to 50 adult residents.

Following completion of improvements to the building’s interior, CRJ plans to hold an Open House for Fenway neighbors to see the facility and meet staff and residents. CRJ extends its thanks to Brooke House’s former neighbors who were supportive of the halfway house program and its residents.
