We have an immediate need for two Part-time Residential Counselors for our group home in Templeton. The home serves up to five males with developmental/behavioral disabilities.
The Direct Support Provider (Residential Counselor) serves an essential role in the smooth operations of this group home. The goal is to provide residents the security and support they need to reach their full potential. Families and the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services are important partners in structuring individual programs to improve living skills and foster independence. For many residents, it's the first time they've been able to live happily and comfortably in the community. That base of support enables clients to develop job skills, receive training and work toward greater self-sufficiency.
The Residential Counselor's Duties/Responsibilities include the following:
• The Residential Counselor will directly assist resident clients with their day-to-day activities
• He/she will monitor the resident clients to insure they are acting within the range of program and individual guidelines
• He/she will implement and follow behavioral plans as directed by the clinical staff.
• The Residential Counselor also plays an important part in the safety of the residents and staff by insuring we offer support and guidance to residents when needed and identify and intervene in situations when necessary.
• He/she will update log entries including the medication log and incident log
• Acquire/renew/maintain certifications in First-Aid, CPR, MAP, PAC and Community Strategies specific trainings (CRJ provide training)
• Other duties as assigned
We offer extensive training, so no experience is necessary. We are looking for people who can demonstrate good judgment, show compassion towards others, and proven reliability.
All CSMA staff are trained and certified in various forms of de-escalation techniques to insure the safety of residents and staff.
